Benchperson Training Outline:
Day 1
1 to 2 Hours spent observing the present operating conditions of:
· Your sawing equipment
· How the saws are performing
· Operation of your filing room and your saw filer
1 to 2 Hours spent talking to:
· Your saw filer to understand his present knowledge and skill level
· Your Filing Room Supervisor 4 to 6 Hours spent on:
· Band saw operation
· Tensioning, using the stretcher roll
· Tire, Tension, Open, Tight, Saw Leveling, Back
Day 2
1 Hour review of the proceeding day
1 Hour observing saw operation and identifying operating concerns or problems
1 Hour reviewing saw design, Feeds and Speeds
5 to 6 Hours continuing with working and benching saws
Day 3
1 Hour review of proceeding day and observing saw operation
7 to 8 Hours continuing with working and benching saws
Day 4
1 Hour review of proceeding day and observing saw operation
7 to 8 Hours continuing with working and benching saws
Observing the Filing Room operation, help and answer questions for the other crew members
Day 5
4 Hours follow-up for the week, reviewing results with Filing Room Supervisor.
Decide if more time will be required
Available for phone consultation as needed:
In 2 weeks:
1 to 2 days for a follow up visit, to resolve un-answered questions, concerns, or problems.Inspect saws, make suggestions for improving, demonstrate some tricks of the trade.
Review with Filing Room Supervisor, cover any areas of concern and determine if follow-up visits may be required.
In 4 weeks Follow up visit
