Circular Saw Filer Training Outline:
Day 1
1 to 2 Hours spent observing the present operating conditions of:
· Your sawing equipment
· How the saws are performing
· Operation of your filing room and your saw filer
1 to 2 Hours spent talking to:
· Your saw filer to understand his present knowledge and skill level
· Your Filing Room Supervisor 4 to 8 Hours spent on explaining the basic of:
· Saw tensioning
· Tight and open
· Basic feeds and speeds
· Saw vibration
· Saw leveling
· Using the stretcher roll
Day 2
2 to 4 Hours review of the proceeding day
1 Hour observing saw operation and identifying operating concerns or problems
1 Hour reviewing saw design, feeds and speeds
2 to 4 Hours basic saw leveling
Day 3
1 Hour review of proceeding day and observing saw operation
7 to 8 Hours continuing with basic saw leveling, introduction to saw tensioning
Day 4
1 Hour review of proceeding day and observing saw operation
7 to 8 Hours continuing with leveling and tensioning
Observing the Filing Room operation, help and answer questions for the other crew members
Day 5
1 Hour review of proceeding day and observing saw operation
2 to 4 Hours continuing with leveling and tensioning
2 to 4 Hours follow-up for the week, reviewing results with Filing Room Supervisor.
Day 6
2 to 4 Hours reviewing lesson learned from last week
2 to 4 Hours continuing with leveling and tensioning
Day 7
1 Hour review of the proceeding day
1 Hour observing saw operation and identifying operating concerns or problems
7 to 8 Hours continuing with saw leveling and saw tensioning
Day 8
1 Hour review of proceeding day and observing saw operation
7 to 8 Hours continuing with saw leveling and saw tensioning
Day 9
1 Hour review of proceeding day and observing saw operation
7 to 8 Hours continuing with saw leveling and saw tensioning
Day 10
4 Hours follow-up for the week, reviewing results with Filing Room Supervisor to
decide if more time will be required.
Available for phone consultation as needed:
In 2 weeks:
1 to 2 day for a follow up visit to resolve any
un-answered questions,
concerns, or problems.
Inspect saws, make suggestions for improving,
demonstrate some tricks of the trade.
Review with Filing Room Supervisor,
cover any areas of concern, and determine if follow-up visits may be required.
In 4 weeks:
